Major/Essential Functions
Serve as primary i! nstructor for Medical Psychiatry, Medical Interviewing and Medical Ethics. To provide both direct and indirect teaching in other courses as assigned.
To serve as faculty advisor for students in didactic and clinical year classes and clinical coordinator for students in clinical year of the program.
Provide professional and university service.
Occasional Duties
Participate in program evaluation and development and accreditation maintenance.
Engage in other activities as determined by the Physician Assistant Program Director.
Qualifications
Applicants must have graduated from an approved accredited physician assistant program and must have or be eligible for licensure in the State of Texas. MPAS or equivalent required. Current NCCPA certification. Demonstrated record of effectiveness as a teacher, a record of peer reviewed publication and/or peer-reviewed creative activity which has contributed to the discipline o! r field of study, to the candidate’s intellectual and artist! ic development, and to the quality of the academic enterprise; a record of professional service appropriate to the discipline; promise of growth in teaching and research or artistic and creative activity.
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum of 3-5 years clinical experience.
Experience should be in the area of general medicine and psychiatry.
Applicant must be certified in BLS , ACLS , and PALS .
Applicant should have experience in and the ability to teach medical psychiatry.
Applicant should have experience with outpatient and inpatient psychiatry patients.
Teaching experience desired.
