Duties:
Psychiatrist serves as psychiatry executive (or equivalent
discipline leader).
Clinical:! b> 70%
 Leader of the multidisciplinary team on inpatient acute psychiatry, and SNU.
 Approves all admission to inpatient acute psychiatry unit and SNU.
 Coordinates all patient movement on inpatient acute psychiatry and SNU.
 Compensation and Pension examinations.
 Participation in psychiatric on call rotation.
 Other clinical duties as assigned.
Administrative: 30%
coordinator in the design, development, and implementation of clinical programs
for a team of treatment providers.
program evaluation and data-driven quality improvement projects to monitor the
effectiveness of the clinical program.
coordinate services.
health care sc! reening and completion of clinical reminders for all patients.
standards for documentation and proper patient check out procedures (e.g.,
entering diagnostic and procedure codes).
the Service Line Chief (or designee) and facility Director (or designee).
complies with Mental Health peer review procedures.
Supervision
The Psychiatrist reports
administratively and clinically to the Associate Chief of Staff for the Mental
Health Service Line.
SALARY RANGE:
Pay is based upon education and experience and is set by the Physician
Professional Standards Board. Three compone! nts of pay are base, market and
performance pay. Current pay range is $96,539 to $195,000.
TOUR OF DUTY : Monday - Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with on-call duties required (evenings/weekends), as necessary.
Qualifications & Evaluations
U.S. citizenship. Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
D egree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Preferred Experience:
Has very broad responsibility for the psychiatric program,
and the delivery of psychiatric professional services that significantly impact
the health care provided to veterans. The components that are managed are of
considerable s! cope, size, and complexity, and consist of a total of at least 5
or! more professional staff, (Psychiatrists, and Psychiatric Nurse
Practitioners). Program management responsibilities include the development of
short and long range goals and plans, development and implementation of policies
and procedures to ensure goal attainment, management of administrative and
programmatic resources, and outcomes monitoring using data-driven quality
assurance processes. Very wide latitude and independent judgment are exercised
in making decisions affecting staff and other resources associated with the
